Bien vivre in Saint-Tropez

The enchanting Côte d’Azur hamlet has been irresistible ever since the time of Brigitte Bardot. Here, an experience that veers between the luxurious and the crazy is de rigeur.  You can avoid the traffic by taking a helicopter taxi (a 7 minute flight to Nice).

When you go to Nikki Beach on the white sand beach of Pampelonne there are no deckchairs, only pale four-poster beds where you can shelter from the sun and the gaze of curious onlookers. When it’s time for an aperitif everyone goes to Sénéquier, the historic bar on the port with its appealing atmosphere and bright red triangular tables. After dinner move down to the sea and on to Club 55, the forerunner of all beach clubs, then go dancing at Papagayo, a temple of nightlife.

If you’re cooking at home for friends? You can buy your lobsters from the fishermen in Place aux Herbes. Relax to the sound of the locals playing a game of pétanque in Place des Lices, under the shade of a large plane tree, while you enjoy a Tarte Tropézienne with its secret recipe.
