For Expo 2015, Milan will be filled with art and will host various exhibitions that range from the ancient to the contemporary, beginning with the long-awaited opening of the Museum of Culture, the multi-functional space created from the ex-Ansaldo factory in the Tortona area and designed by British architect David Chipperfield.

The season will open with two exhibitions not to be missed. The first is “Africa. La terra degli Spiriti” (Africa. Land of Spirits) an elegy to arts on the African continent and to the magic hidden inside each object, aims to show how the aesthetics of African artists influenced the generation of the first historic avant-garde movement.

The second “Mondi a Milano” (Worlds in Milan) designed specifically for the Universal Exhibition, shows how the city of Milan has been able to spread and transmit the culture of peoples from outside Europe in the large-scale events it has hosted over the years. It is a unique opportunity to go back in time through a collection of objects, paintings, graphics, prints, popular press, posters and photography.

Africa. La terra degli spiriti”, from 27th March to 30th August
Mondi a Milano”, from 27th March to 19th July
