The Cal” is the eye of the new trends, social changes, a Cult entered in the collective imagination. In the upcoming 2015 edition (November 18th, by Steven Meisel) on the September 21th, at Palazzo Reale in Milan, opens the exhibition “Form and Desire. The Cal – Pirelli Collection “, curated by Walter Guadagnini and Amedeo M. Turello, sponsored by the City of Milan-Culture, under the patronage of Expo, organized and produced by the Palazzo Reale and GAmm Giunti: two hundred historical photos of the Pirelli Calendars, from the year of foundation to present, on display until February 22th, 2015. The first “Cal” is 1964 edition and after stopping publication in 1974, it has resumed in regular edition, a decade later, with no stop until the present day.

The exhibition is a thematic journey that connects fifty years of Calendar’s shots, five rooms and five themes: The charm of the world, The photographer and his muse, Indiscreet gaze, The nature of artifice and The body on the scene. Through the images are discovered the changes of tastes and social themes, the different looks of the photographers and the absolute protagonists: women. Celebrities, supermodels and living icons, photographed in contexts suspended in time, shots entered into the history and collective imagination. Pictures signed by the greatest photographers of our time: from Richard Avedon to Peter Lindberg, Bruce Weber, Terry Richardson, Patrick Demarchelier and Steven Meisel.
