Assouline pays homage to one of most iconic bags in the world of fashion. “Le Pliage de Longchamp” traces the history of the French it-bag, from its creation by Philippe Cassegrain, son of Jean who founded the maison in 1948, to the limited editions, season patterns and collaborations with artists like Tracey Emin, Jeremy Scott and Mary Katrantzou. Laure Verchère, journalist specialized in interior design, tells the history of La Pliage: a twenty-year success with more than 30 million items sold.

“Le Pliage involves the best of our maison: French savoir-faire, quality, innovation, style and elegance”- said Jean Cassegrain.

As we told in the last BeSpoke issue, at the beginning Le Pliage was made of super lightweight nylon fabric; then, in 2012, also of soft leather and different sizes. Its peculiarity? It can be folded to the size of a book. Perfect for every occasion and super elegant, during years Le Pliage saw different versions, colours and materials. Assouline book tells the history of an utopia that turned into a real success history.
