Twenty-five years ago it took place the “secession” of the first five exhibitors – Baume & Mercier, Cartier, Piaget, Gérald Genta and Daniel Roth - that after leaving Baselworld, set up SIHH, the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie. In 1991, the 4,500 square metres of Palexpo Geneva housed an exclusive gathering for Fine Watchmaking over five days.

From January 19th to 23rd, 2015, that place, once for few connoisseurs only, hosted 16 houses with their invited buyers, retailers, journalists and Fine Watchmaking lovers. A place with amazing pavilions, launches and one-to-one meetings with leading figures of the sector, private cocktail parties, and the perfection of the last creations. Not to mention the prestigious partnerships – Parmigiani with Bugatti and Lalique, for example. But that’s not all.

As the President of the Fédération de la Haute Horlogerie Fabienne Lupo explained, SIHH aspires to be a magic moment where skills, handicraft and expertise live together along Ralph Lauren’s and Baume&Mercier’s preppy rooms, the fairy world of Van Cleef&Arpels, the collection retracing the 260 years of Vacheron Costantin, the most ancient Horlogerie house in the world that restarts from “Harmony”, the collection that reinvents watchmaking excellence, from the architectural lines to the first wrist chronographs design created at the end of 1920s, together with pendolum clocks and unique pieces, from Art Deco to the last pure quartz creations.

Between classicism (Montblanc, Panerai, Greubel) and excess (Cartier and Richard Mille), craftsmanship and story are back in fashion. More than in business and ad. Wind has changed in the heart of Europe, even in privileged sectors like watchmaking and jewellery. And this makes it a matter of style.

SIHH 2015 is organised by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie in partnership with SIHH Exhibitors Committee.
