The Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan is home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Codex Atlanticus, a collection of a thousand scientific and technical sketches by the maestro.

It is the perfect location, chosen by the Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie of Geneva to present its extraordinary exhibition, “La Conquista del Tempo”.

On show from 15th April to 14th June are around one hundred examples, from early gnomoni to modern wonders of micromechanics, a testimony of man’s inventiveness through the ages in trying to govern time.

The idea for the event was the book of the same name by Dominique Fléchon, a Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie historian and the exhibition will see the presentation of the Italian version, published by Marsilio Edizioni: a unique collection that tells the fascinating history of watch-making from the time of the Babylonians to the present day.
