Tenuta Sette Ponti: the secret empire of Antonio Moretti

“After traveling to the far corners of the world, I’ve come back to my origins. I love my land, its traditions and its products. I have loved wine since I was quite young, and these days, I pay more attention to the vineyards than the fashion business.”

Getting back to doing things the way they are supposed to be done: modernity has had its day, and exits with the image of a paint-covered hen running frenetically over a blank canvas. A chaotic vision that some smooth talker tries to disguise as art, something concrete and new, when it is only undefined confusion. Right. Getting back to the culture. Plunging into the artisanal profundity of performing time-honored actions that heal the mind and soul – and not just of those who perform them – reiterating a tradition whose origins are lost in antiquity. That actually re-appropriates time itself, making it return to slower, more human cadences, instead of the frenzied pace of hyper-speculative markets gone wild, or of spaced-out fashions that last only a few weeks, like modernity itself.

Antonio Moretti doesn’t mince words. An important figure in the world of international haute couture for several decades, head of a textile firm and creator of famous brands, today he tends his wines as if they were the Etruscan blood of his birthplace, which he loves more than anything.

We have to stop and think. Change our flight plan, for sure. We’re at the brink of collapse, with thousands of artisans going under every day. My advice to the young is: you stop, too. Stand shoulder to shoulder with an expert Italian artisan and watch what he does, learn from him, and then take his products and present them to the world. Start over. Make contact with the ancient cultures, especially in the Orient, who appreciate our history, who understand that its roots go back to the dawn of civilization. Today, after traveling to the far corners of the world, I too have come back to my origins. I love my land, its traditions and its products. I have loved wine since I was quite young, and these days, I pay more attention to the vineyards than the fashion business.”

A dedicated entrepreneur with far-reaching vision, gifted with intuition and a nose for business, Moretti has the profound gaze and the craggy features of an Etruscan statue.
