A day in a Rolls Royce (bespoke!) discovering Villa Principe Leopoldo
From the moment it was built by Cavalry General Friedrich Leopold of Hohenzollern in 1926, Villa Principe Leopoldo has always been a theatre for historic events. It has hosted for more or less long periods of time, innumerable illustrious personalities from the great noble families of Europe, artists from the international scene such as opera singers, great actors and famous performance artists, as well as major exponents from the financial, political and industrial world. Not forgetting the big screen stars and athletes who make the hotel their home every year during the various events held in the city of Lugano and surrounding area.
A sojourn at Villa Principe Leopoldo therefore, proves to be a step into the past, into the history of one of the most famous royal families, and at the same time an experience that awakens all the senses: sight, with the view over the splendid Lake Lugano; hearing, with the silence of Collina d’Oro; smell and taste, with the pleasures of the palate and the scent of the surrounding nature. For the sense of touch and the “sixth” sense, Rolls-Royce takes the helm.
From 9 to 12 July 2015, Rolls-Royce Motor Car Geneva and Villa Principe Leopoldo by Ticino Hotels Group Lugano, created an exclusive opportunity, uniting their highly exclusive souls to put together a truly unique event.
Only for a few guests, in the usual style of Rolls Royce and this top-notch Swiss hotellerie who always invite just a few aficionados, it was possible to experience first-hand a test drive on board two of the very few models that the English Car Manufacturer has reserved for its “made-to-measure” clientele.
Immersed in the prestigious cornice of this historic princely residence – member of the collection of prestigious Relais & Chateaux hotels - we were able to appreciate the Ghost Series II and Wraith models.
Once upon a time, the guests of this, the most prestigious among the Ticino Hotels Group, would have been able to enjoy the charm of this location arriving in golden carriages or astride pedigree horses. Today, the sophisticated and expert connoisseurs of quality could do no less than succumb to the allure of two of the last thoroughbreds, unique in the world, made by this true icon of British excellence.
