Suiting. Shirting. Formalwear. These are the ingredients of Doyle + Mueser tailors. Amber Doyle and Jake Mueser, as well.

Their story came from the New York City’s Fashion Institute of Technology that they attended and where they discovered a common interest in tailored menswear. They began tailoring suits for themselves and their friends, creating a distinct but adaptable style that combined a love of modern fashion with a respect for traditional tailoring. By 2006, the most chic streets in New York were soon populated with people in Doyle Mueser suits, and the private client list soon outgrew the modest operation in Jake’s downtown loft.

The first shop opened in 2009 at 159 Chrystie Street, on the Lower East Siden, together with jeweler Ryan Matthew and bespoke denim tailor Simon Jacobs. “The shop, a decadent neo-Victorian boutique filled with suits, cufflinks, shirts, jeans, Jeffery West Shoes, a brace of stuffed albino peacocks, the occasional vervet monkey skull, and a seemingly endless supply of Hendrick’s Gin, is also home to the Doyle Mueser workshop and studio and is regularly the site of infamous parties”, they specify.

In 2010 Amber and Jake opened Doyle Mueser Bespoke at 19 Christopher Street, an elegant and civilized boutique where the focus is on fully bespoke suits, shirts, and accessories, and the customer is always welcome to drop in for a glass of Balvenie Scotch and a spot of intelligent conversation. The client list continues to expand, and in recent years Doyle Mueser has made clothing for Hollywood films, designed member items for a host of exclusive clubs and societies, and collaborated with top designers on runway collections.

A great success. A story that goes on in its philosophy: “We believe that a suit should be a work of art; a masterpiece sculpted from cloth rather than marble. A bespoke suit custom-made for you by Doyle Mueser should feel like a portrait painted by a master, an ode composed in your honor by your favorite poet“.

From “The Big Apple” to the fashion south, this weekend Doyle + Mueser will welcome at the Mondrian Hotel, LA, for a trunk show in the name of excellence and bespoke.
